Book #2 in my Vampire series~

Christmas Eve 1890~

An evening filled with surprise~

Tonight as I awoke a grave feeling filled my thoughts.  A sense of trepidation—for, I promised to spend the Christmas holiday with my close friends. After nourishing my thirst, I became one with the night. I arrived at the hotel Kara leased for the evening and entered the grand parlor. Festive music danced through the air as sparkling lights accented the enormous tree.

I had not seen Kara since the night; I challenged her human lover—Grayson Moore. That evening surprisingly, I misjudged him—for the human truly loved my creator. Grayson’s only desire—to spend eternity with the woman he adored. Sensing my arrival, Kara walked toward me holding a glass of burgundy wine. She smiled and kissed my cheek. Overflowing happiness pierced my thoughts as, she handed me the crystal goblet. I drew her into a brotherly hug and asked. “What has you is such a festive mood this holiday season? My lord, Kara you must have spent a fortune decorating for this affair.”

“Lucian—after all the centuries, I have lived—money means little to me. All I care about—is spending time with those I love,” the vampire emphasized.

Suddenly, I sensed the presence of another—for Beth appeared at my side. I winked at the 18 in human years—vampire, and she laughed. Deep with-in sadness washed through my soul—for she had been turned at such a young age. However, the stunning honey-colored hair beauty had adapted quite well. Living for nearly 100yrs changes one—yet Beth embraced her new existence—each night she awoke. And this evening was no different—for the child had a secret—she was dying to tell.  So I asked, “What are you keeping from us dear Beth—do tell?”

“Dearest Lucian—I believe it is Kara’s secret to tell,” the vampire remarked and glanced at her old friend. “Would you not agree Kara?”

The vampire displayed her left hand in grand valor and blurted. “Grayson has asked for my hand in marriage—and I accepted.”

Momentarily, I was without a voice. For a part of my soul still feared Grayson wanted more than the love Kara offered. The human disclosed his secret that night—for he possessed gifts of his own. Sensing my thoughts, Kara stated Grayson confessed his mental abilities—fearing a secret such as this would destroy their marriage.

The stunning emerald and diamond ring sealed Kara’s fait. I sensed once they married—my vampire friend would turn Grayson into one of the undead. The Gift of eternity, I believe deep with-in the human yearns for.

Alone, in my study, I watch night turn into day—wondering if theirs is a love as no-other. If the bond they share once joined—will last for all eternity.
