 A Cry From Beyond

Book #2 in my Vampire series~

March 1890~

Beneath an Empty Moon~

On this night I awoke, emptiness flooding my heart. The years have grown quite lonely—once again. Existing as one of the un-dead has become tiresome. Nearly 300yrs I have walked this earth—single-handedly. For I cannot remain in the places I call home for eternity. The risk of my secret being discovered—I can never allow. So I ask myself? Is eternal life—worth the loss plaguing my soul? And the answer is always the same—yes—the innocent humans need my protection. For they warrant a life without fear of a monster draining the very fluid they need to survive. If only the hunt still excited me—yet it does not. For I need very little substance to survive. As my creator explained would happen in time…

Kara… I do miss the stunning vampire. Secrets revealed she has taken a human lover—one capable of severing the barrier protecting her heart. This knowledge pained me deep with-in—yet I cannot understand why. Even though we pleasured one-another over the years—both knew the attraction was purely physical.

Accepting our relationship could not be more was difficult at times. Existing as one of the un-dead has its disadvantages. For once a vampire claims your soul—they shall live with-in you—forever. Knowing your every thought—your every desire—your need to feel complete. I ask myself. Is it possible—I—Lucian Monroe to experience such completeness?

Suddenly, I recall a night—so many lives changed. Nearly 15yrs passed—and Tristen will not forgive my deceit. I prayed in time—his anger would lessen toward me. Nevertheless, it has not. So once again, I contemplate.  What does one as I—an immortal need to fill this void with-in? However—nothing plagues my thoughts.  I glance at the moon-lit sky and curse. For deep with-in I finally found the answer I seek. If I could feel naught—truly exist without a care—I would be complete…
